RAISING A VILLAGE “It takes
all of us, Amy Sowers Avatars first outreach was to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. When
we first saw the pictures on the news of all the people suffering and the lack
of response on the part of our government we knew in our hearts that we had to
do something to make a difference. We were in the studio working on our first
CD at the time and we decided that we had to start raising monies immediately
to effect a change. So we put out a mini-CD entitled “Invitation” to give hope
to the victims and to help in some way to alleviate the suffering. As Spirit
would have it we heard of another church in our community that was helping to
re-locate families from ………………………………………………………..

several concerts and lots of coffee houses over the next year at the Unity of Avatar in concert at Unity of Winston-Salem …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Avatar was asked
to open Unity of Winston-Salem’s 1st Fall festival to help raise
money for the music department. Avatar was asked to participate in the Peace Walk and Festival in downtown Avatar was asked
to sing in an effort to help raise money for the children at the North Carolina Group Homes to be able to take their annual
trip to Avatar sang
at the Methodist Youth Rally in Shalom, N.C. and connected with the person that
started Race Track Ministries. This is a
ministry focused on family and reaching more young people by staging events at
the race track. Avatar sang for them on several occasions and helped them raise
money for their ministry. Avatar
at the Elkin racetrack raising money for Racetrack Ministries ………………………………………………………………………… Last summer
Avatar was asked to sing at “The Beauty
of It All”.
